the woman I became was worth the burning

About Me

Hi, I’m Casey Hart!

I‘m a female tattoo artist and have been tattooing in Maryland for almost fourteen years. I also own Foxwood Tattoo Collective in Sykesville, Maryland. Tattooing is my deepest passion.  I love creating unique and beautiful tattoos for people finding themselves on diffuclt healing journeys. I mainly focus on black and grey, fine line, mandala, florals, and geometric work, and I rely on my intuition to create meaningful and transformative artwork for growing individuals. It is incredibly important to me that you feel comfortable and safe throughout your entire tattoo process. From consultation, to drawing, to stencil, to the execution of the tattoo...

being thorough and working with intent is always the forefront of my process. It is also the utmost importance that you feel safe and welcome in my chair. I welcome all BIPOC and LQBGT+ clients.

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I have been seriously drawing and painting since I was about 6 years old. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree from McDaniel College in 2014. I have received many awards and honors in arts and tattooing. In addition to my formal education in art, I have a master mindfulness and meditation practitioner certificate, am a Reiki 1 and 2 practitioner, a certified sound bowl healer and have invested thousands into my own education in courses including entrepreneurship, business, and coaching. I LOVE learning and continuing to push my skills and knowledge.  I pride myself in having incomparable client satisfaction with all 5 star ratings. If you're looking for someone who is kind, caring, authentic and gentle for your tattoo process then look no further! From first tattoos, to the one-hundredth tattoo, I will be sure that you leave with a one of a kind tattoo experience. I believe tattooing can create a healing experience and a sacred space for past experiences, celebrations, trauma, and the roller coaster of emotions we have as humans. I always intend when I work to go into our journey together with positive energy, healing intentions, and gratitude for the creation of art. I attempt to create a space that is safe, relaxing, comfortable, and welcoming as a tattoo leaves more than a mark on our mind, body and spirit.

personally...

My values are integrity, gratitude, trust, and balance.  I am lucky to be happily married to my husband Michael and just welcomed our first son Finex into the world in October 2025. I also have a beautiful step daughter Serenity and live in Owings Mills, Maryland. My other babies include stunning poodle Bellatrix and my kitties Oliver and Zoey. I spend a lot of my free time reading, doing yoga, traveling, practicing Reiki and Sound Baths, and overall I believe in living a heart based life. I like to spend my time teaching and mentoring others in mindfulness, resilience, and authenticity.  My goal is to always help people realize their natural and beautiful power within and help those heal from past experiences and trauma. While I have been through many trials and tribulations in this life, I have learned that there is an abundance of love and joy to celebrate right in front of us. Connection is what keeps our universal energy flowing and I am grateful to create loving and meaningful relationships through this career, and this life. I strive to continue to heal myself and others, to honor our life energy with love and gratitude, and to say yes to as many as life's opportunities as possible.

I welcome all kinds of clients including BIPOC and LGBTQ+

ARTIST STATEMENT 2026

Motherhood has changed everything.

It cracked me open in ways I could not have prepared for — forcing me to loosen my grip, soften my landing, and release versions of myself I have always relied on for safety. Becoming a mother has been a practice in surrender, in listening more closely, slowing down, and in trusting what I cannot control.

For much of my life and work, I moved through the world with a tight hand on the reins. I planned, controlled, protected. That instinct served me — until it didn’t.

Motherhood showed me where control was no longer there, and where holding on to "the before" was preventing growth.

This year, my art is shaped by the practice of letting go.

Letting go of who I thought I had to be.
Letting go of how things were “supposed” to look.
Letting go of cycles I  inherited but no longer wish to carry with me or my family.

In releasing my old self, I have made space for intuition to lead — not as something woo-woo or spiritual, but as a quiet, steady intelligence that knows when to speak and when to wait. I have learned no response is a response.

I am learning to trust spirit, timing, and the body’s wisdom. I am learning that just presence can be more powerful than effort.

This shift has changed the way I tattoo.

Rather than over-doing or over-directing, I now listen more deeply — to what is here, what is unfinished, what wants to be marked and what wants to be released. The tattoo process itself becomes the work: a moment of embodiment, of courage, of choosing to move forward while honoring what came before.

I am especially drawn to working with people who are in between versions of themselves — those shedding old skins, breaking family patterns, grieving who they were while feeling the pull of who they are becoming. This work is for those who are brave enough to look at themselves honestly, to find pieces of meaning in what has been lived, and to step toward the future with tenderness and bravery.

Healing, to me, is not about fixing or erasing. It is about remembering. About integration. About embodiment. About allowing the past to change us without defining us.

As a mother, I am committed to breaking cycles — not through perfection, but through intuition. As an artist, I bring that same devotion to my work: creating with care, intention, and trust in what is unseen.

I no longer believe I need to control the outcome for the work to be powerful. I believe in collaboration — between artist and client, body and spirit, intention and release.

This chapter of my work is quieter, truer, and more essential. It is guided by courage rather than certainty, and by trust rather than force.

I offer my tattooing to those who are walking their own threshold — those ready to let go, to listen, and to lead with their heart

STEP INTO THE FIRE

Reviews

From a first tattoo client... Leanna

I just got my first tattoo done here by Casey and cannot say enough incredible things about her, this studio, and my experience here.

First I'd just like to say... this studio is professional, clean, neat & tidy, and super inviting. You can tell that all of the artists there really take pride in their work and making sure you have a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Secondly- CASEY IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! HANDS DOWN. I booked with her because I was intrigued by her work and her style fit exactly what I was looking for. Her line work, delicacy, and precision of detail is so beautiful. At my consultation I told her I wanted flowers on my foot and she drew up a rough sketch and seemed to totally get what I was wanting. I told her I wasn't that picky about what kinds of flowers she did; I was very familiar with her work as I spent a lot of time researching and looking at her portfolio so I learned which types of flowers she liked to do a lot of. I trusted her and knew that whatever she did was going to look bomb. On the day of my appointment she actually ended up free-handing most of the flowers, stems, and leaves on my foot which I am still blown away by. Not only is she an AMAZING artist, she is super sweet, friendly, funny, and made me feel SO comfortable and relaxed when I was nervous about the pain. She is also super informative about tattoos and did a great job explaining the aftercare process for me since I was not familiar.

Overall, my experience here was beyond what I could ask for and I would highly recommend this studio and especially Casey to anyone!! I have received so many compliments already, even my mom who was not thrilled about me getting a tattoo loves it! I totally want to come back here and book with Casey for my second tattoo.

Casey Hart has done 2 tattoos for me. She's welcoming, sweet and so professional! She free-handed most of my second tattoo and it's absolutely gorgeous!! A few of the other staff came over and chatted while I was being tattooed and everyone was super friendly. The price for the quality of work and time it took was more than fair. I recently moved out of state and actually travelled back to MD to have Casey do my 2nd tattoo, which completed my half sleeve, and I will definitely be visiting in the future to see her again. She's amazing!

Had the best possible experience with Casey! She is an incredibly gifted tattoo artist who can manage to create gorgeous pieces of body art with very delicate fine lines. Not only is she is extremely talented, but she is very friendly and her demeanor immediately put me at ease despite my nerves. She has the magic touch and made getting tattooed an incredible and painless experience. Any wait time to get booked with Casey is well worth it! Couldn't have asked for a better piece or experience!

I've left this same review elsewhere, but I can't put it in enough places! Where do I even begin? Casey tattooed my quarter sleeve and the only way I can describe how beautiful a piece she did is that I left feeling more like myself than when I went in. She drew up what I couldn't imagine myself and I can't imagine going to anyone else for tattoos from here on out. Her talent is incredible and she was a pleasure chatting with while I was in the chair!

I just had a full day session with Casey Hart for complimenting thigh pieces and she was amazing! Her chair-side manner is relaxed and she is so sweet! Her talent is exceptional. She brought to life an idea that I’ve had for a long time to memorialize my family in a beautiful way. She understood exactly what I was hoping to achieve and she definitely delivered. My whole experience exceeded my expectations and I would love to come back! It’s worth the wait!

Casey did my tattoo and she is so crazy talented. She took my initial vision and created a beautiful design, better than I ever could've imagined! She was so kind throughout the whole process. Plus she was super patient when I was very indecisive about little details! She was professional and made me feel so comfortable. I'd recommend her in a heartbeat!
